edited because I confused two products
I tried to get an IUD years ago and was brushed off “that will just make your cramps worse” after having a baby and the IUD surge in popularity I got one and it has changed my life. No debilitating cramps, little nausea
I have low level chronic pain and do this as well
I suspect that cross merchandising in stores comes into play. If they have the specific label they can get placement in specific sections as well as General pain relief
Yeah, I don’t know if they cause the nausea and cramping or if the hormones that lead to their formation do
Looking back on it I think being on birth control pills amplified my mood swings and depressive episodes to an insane place. I tried 5 or six different pills with no luck. A decade ago it was much more difficult for a nulliparous woman to find a doc for an IUD so I just suffered.
I’ve done that a few times over the years. I get cysts which occasionally lead to pregnancy like symptoms
Yes, I couldn’t remember if it was 7 or 8 so I didn’t specify
For people who don’t rely on low cost clinics/Medicaid this is probably true. My employer provided PPO is not likely to make birth control financially unavailable because births are expensive and hurt their bottom line. We may see a return to copay for birth control
But for the most part middle class white women will still be able to access birth control as before.
I do also think that for many this is an overblown fear. Many insurance companies and employers will continue to provide free and low cost birth control because it saves them money to not have a bunch of unwanted pregnancies. The fear is very real for some but it won’t hit everyone equally.
Mirena started with a 5 year lifespan then they increased it. My doc said the same is likely to happen for skyla/liletta
I find the localized hormones of mirena beneficial but I also have a variety of menstrual ills which are alleviated by not having a regular period.
My planned parenthood doesn’t stock Mirena in favor of the lower cost liletta and skyla, you may want to check with yours. Mine offered to order Mirena but I just got the liletta
Martin O’Malley is leading a #noshamrocks campaign
It’s too bad that most insurance companies won’t give a year of pills at a time.
