@Scoutch_has.a.job!: I did drive up this, which just claimed to be a bump. I have worn out a clutch but that was in an automatic.
@Vman455: ND and SD were split for logistical reasons that made sense at the time. The railroads mostly ran east/west and the north/south routes were built later, and settlement at statehood was mostly concentrated in the Red River Valley, along the railroads, and in the southeast corner of SD.
ND (current state of residence), SD (home state), NE, CO, KS, OK, TX, MN, IA, MO, LA, WI and IL for 13, plus SK, MB and ON in Canada.
If I get a good dry spell, I'll take the KLR650 out and get the mold release compound scrubbed off the tread of the new front tire I installed this afternoon.
'83 Buick Century T-type, mostly because it was due for its 3rd engine at only 120,000 miles on the chassis when we parked it. Early in my driving career (and, to be fair, late in the car's life) I discovered terminal understeer with this car the only time I really pushed it, making me wonder how terrible the regular…
Must be drive-in-wet-concrete day. We just had someone in a pickup w/ trailer do this in Fargo last night, causing $100k worth of damage.
@vavon205: Jacking the back end up is a '60's hot rodding/drag racing thing. It gave more room to put bigger rear tires on the car, and IIRC it helps the weight transfer at launch.
@RCdrift: Isn't technology wonderful? If we still actually get to drive our cars in 25 years as opposed to being driven around by them, maybe we'll be able to say the same things about the Spec V.
Nice Price if the mileage is low. But my 1st car was a '73 XR7 so I have no objectivity about these things.
@Snatchertas: Wow. It's like a semi, a Caprice and a 4x4 Suburban had a three-way.
I might have to turn in my Jalopnik Gold Card after this, but I have to say it...
Brake pad wear sensors. Instead of embedding the device in the pad that makes the brakes squeal when the pads are worn out, GM installed these sensors on the front brakes of the '98 Seville and probably some other cars. Their sole purpose in life is to get worn out by the rotor, breaking an electrical contact and…
My aunt had one of these, I thought it was cool for a van (though my minivan preference was always the Aerostar).
@mrbcargirl: As far as I now it was all the way through the Mustang-based Cougar, my '73 had the sequentials too. (Not that I ever got to enjoy them, usually my involvement with them meant opening the trunk and thumping the electric/mechanical control unit in the left rear lower corner of the trunk so they'd blink…
I think my Mom still misses her purple '93 Cadillac STS. It was the family car from '96 through '02, then my folks got a '98 for Mom and gave the '93 to my sister for her last few years of college. It was a great car and lasted till '06 when it got run into by some douche in a Ridgeline who somehow didn't see 2 tons…
