@CaveTroll: +1. I hate hate hate the JD skidsteer cab. (Of course I'm a little biased being that I designed cab related systems on a certain line of white/orange/grey skid steers for a few years in the recent past...)

I think the car still has a long life ahead in America. It'll be a long time before mass transit can replace cars in places like my home state, which has half the surface area of Germany and 1% the population. Also there are still gains to be made through improvements to conventional engines, for example Fiat's…
@CaveTroll-FREE THE JALOPNIK 9!!!: Polycarbonate windows have less scratch resistance than glass, which can be problematic in road vehicle applications where you have to have a wiper for rain. I used to do a lot of cab related design on a certain line of skid steer loaders, and they simply didn't have wipers for the…
@Froggmann - Now with working windows!: +1. You'd want something more like an ISO 3449 Level II FOPS. [www.safemanitoba.com]
@Elhigh: If you want mellow terrain, it doesn't get much better than where I live: [en.wikipedia.org]
@Iron-Balls Minardi: If he'd crashed that'd bring a whole new meaning to "rubbing salt in the wound".
@Tossed Accordtaco salad over Malibu: How about 5?
@something_unique_and_descripti...: I was wondering how the heck one comes up with a genuine BMC Mini for $500.
Beyond the certain comfort/style/competence/reliability factors that appeal to your typical upper Midwesterner, there's another factor: dealerships. Here in the Dakotas, GM and Ford will have stores in towns down to about 3,000 people while the import marques won't be found till the population is more like 15-20,000.…
@Froggmann: Welcome to the bizarro world of EPA fuel economy estimates. Their highway driving cycle was so gentle that 27 MPG was actually possible for that big brick of a truck under those conditions (which would make the stereotypical Florida 35-mph-on-interstate blinker-on left-laners look speedy.) They've…
@brandegee: Maybe a Dodge Caliber is a good car in this place.
@Maymar wishes Jalopnik a happy 5th birthday: +1. I always had an unhealthy fascination with that car.
Hrm. All-electric? I bet the Volt's 'ring time is better!
@pauljones: Some do!
@Jstas has gas!: 2 girls, 1 trunk?
As a fan of all kinds of racing including NASCAR, 1, 2 and 10 are the only ones I agree with in any sense. (And #1 I take some issue with: the rain tire was designed for the old twisted sister cars, not the COT which has more roll.)
My favorite: [jalopnik.com]
This helps explain how the money's going so fast. You only need to move up 5 MPG to get the full subsidy on a small truck, and that isn't hard. The 2 MPG on a big truck is even easier.
Page 3 should be most purchased on Edmunds' standard.
@mr_dude: That's what she said?
