Interactive fiction / visual novels are not games. Every game should have some challenge inside its gameplay loop and reading text is not challenge. Game design 101. It’s hilarious that gaming journalists don’t know it.

I owned Budokai 3 on PS2 and the remake on PS3. Despite the board game aspect of 2 being so weird, I think they should’ve included that instead of Budokai 1, but c’est la vie. Video game companies make stupid decisions all the time.

true, but Budokai 3 was never competitively viable. Also, DBZ Legends (for Sega Saturn), which never made it over to the States, was arguably the best Dragon Ball game ever made.
