Yes! Finally we get somewhere. The past few episodes have been kind of a slog and even thought we're hurtling toward the end, it's amazing to see Hannibal looking not-so-confident as he called out, "Hello Jack." He's trying and failing to keep his cool. He knows the walls are starting to close in.

I do agree on the tone-orienting aspect of the flashbacks, but we still know Nicky as the wise-cracking survivor and it was jarring to actually see her as a pretty despicable person rather than just painted as the victim of her mom's neglect. Maybe not very subtle, but definitely not pointless.

I've gotta disagree with you on the flashbacks, Myles. The glimpses of Nicky's mom before didn't show much except that she was a generic rich asshole who didn't bother to parent her daughter.
