It's really easy: if I carry it around in my bag, I usually get the extended warranty. Laptops, iPads/iPods/Macbooks, maybe cameras. If it's generally stationary - desktops, TVs that aren't new technology, video games/DVDs - those I pass on.

I have the same problem. My big toe gets squished to the point of pain after a twenty minutes - something I couldn't tell in the 5 minute try-on at the store. They're just collecting dust in my closet.
