Yep, this was the second part of my reply :) This is why I never play Counter-Strike with vsync on :)

Yep, you pretty much got it - but when vsync is off, there's no waiting around for anybody. Tearing happens because the GPU is free to switch the frame whenever it pleases, and the monitor instantly starts drawing from the new data. Even if your performance is excellent, you still get tearing (actually it should be…
I was just wondering if there even *are* TVs that are good enough for gaming. Turns out there are, 23 milliseconds of lag is perfectly acceptable even for twitch shooters :) I wasn't suggesting you go buy a new TV, I was just kind of excited that TVs are finally catching up to monitor specifications :)
Vsync makes your GPU wait until your monitor tells it it has finished "scanning" (i.e. writing pixels) to supply the next frame. As the rendered frames and the scans of the monitor can happen at different times, if your GPU is not fast enough it may not be ready with the next frame - then your monitor just redraws the…
Wow, look what I found - http://www.displaylag.com/best-hdtvs-gam…
Oh... TVs probably have high latencies anyway, I guess a couple milliseconds more won't make a huge difference...
Personally I wouldn't say "any day". I prefer Vsync for the new, cover-based and slow shooters (Mass Effect, Bioshock Infinite, etc.), but hate it in anything like Counter-Strike (and I assume Team Fortress is the same, it's also a very fast-paced game). Anything that would normally make you buy a gaming mouse…
....and this is why adaptive sync was introduced. Soon the times of choosing between lag and tearing will be gone :)
Nope :) Care to enlighten me?
What is "schll"? And how are you not an animal, last time I looked we were not plants?
It depends on what job you're applying to - if it's something technical (programming and the rest), a suit will make you look incompetent, and you'll be way over-dressed compared to the interviewers (not a good thing). For these jobs a hoodie or t-shirt with jeans and sneakers is your best choice.
Well, that's not exactly true - you do get something from it, the same thing you get from wearing expensive designer clothes. For me personally both things are equally unnecessary if you have a normal self-esteem.
I don't like soccer, never played it and never watched it. But since I live in Europe, people were getting pretty crazy about it a couple of weeks ago - and you know what I did? I sat with them and watched some matches. Admittedly, the beer and fries also lured me in, but it still seems like an interesting game. It…
...they'll even practice *the same friggin situation* like a thousand times to get it just right... Of course it requires dedication, any sane person would be insanely bored by the 50th repetition - after that it's not fun, it's training.
Well, wrong - according to the largest organisation that has any say in what is a sport and what is not. You can read their definition on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sport#Def…
He said "back then". It's not a buzzword now, but it was most certainly a buzzword back then. Like how e-sports won't be a buzzword in another 20 years.
Normally the slot machines are set to 70-30 (i.e. they keep 70% of the money and give 30% as payouts). If you play an infinite number of times, you are certain to lose. This, however, doesn't mean you shouldn't have some fun every now and then - if you have disposable cash, nobody can stop you from wasting your money…
Not necessarily - it's just a very, very high-risk investment. I don't play casino games, but tried 10 euro on boxes and won 30 back... I won't play again, as I know the average is against me (at least in casino games, if you play long enough you're guaranteed to lose).
Why not? At least it doesn't break the game - no matter how rich you are, when we meet on some map we meet as equals.
