It’s a really interesting story. The Gaming Historian did a really great video about it a few years ago. 

It was honestly a nice effort from the people involved and seemed to harbour some real love for the properties featured in it. Sadly, from a gameplay perspective it’s never been able to move past just being “shitty Smash Bros.”.

You’re correct. I challenge the CMA to show me any game with sales flat 12 months after any given event. Also 12 months is a loooooong time in gaming.

I suspect that is the exact thing going on. If your game can be completed within a month (or however long it is on the pass) and it’s released too close to launch you are cannibalizing your sales.

I think there will still be paid DLC in addition to the $70 price, and personally I’m fine with that. Breath of the Wild with its DLC was $80. I got way more than $80 of fun out of the game, and will probably get yet more out of it down the road.

I love my switch but it’s a 2016/17 tablet hybrid. The games currently being pushed on it are too much for it and it shows. The format is fantastic, it’s time for a Super Nintendo Switch.

Pokémon has issues because Game Freak is a lousy studio. Plain and simple. I love Pokémon more than anything, and its devs are a bunch of jackasses.
