I can see Hoult doing a good job with the role. But I really hope this movie features some Superman villains that haven’t been done in live-action film before. Parasite, Brainiac, Metallo, Mongul, Mxyzpltk, etc. There are more villains than just Lex and Zod.

“I’ve never seen women habitually shout those judgements at men who are just walking down the street, or sidle up to a man in the (supermarket/bus/lift/ every other goddamn place) to tell him unprompted what they want to do to his body, or claim they’re too disgusted by his body to do those things.

Tell me you don’t know any women without telling me you don’t know any women.

She’s 21, a child of privilege, and became famous when she was a teen. 21 year olds in general are dumb as a bag of hammers, and the other two push her expected intellect even deeper into that bag.

Is there any form of body shaming, anywhere, that is more acceptable than dick size?

No way: The spirit of her remark is ‘Women are awesome and don’t judge anyone for anything ever, men are scum that judge everything!’ and that is both false and stupidly sexist.

I mean I not sure if women are nicer than men, but they definitely can keep it to themselves better. But the one thing that I have noticed over the years that a good portion of women are willing to be upfront about is their preferred height requirement

It’s weird that she’s open about her attraction to women and then says something astoundingly hetero normative like boys don’t get judged for their bodies because girls are nice. Like there are no gay men.

“Nobody ever says a thing about men’s bodies. If you’re muscular, cool. If you’re not, cool. If you’re rail thin, cool. If you have a dad bod, cool. If you’re pudgy, love it! Everybody’s happy with it. You know why? Because girls are nice. They don’t give a fuck because we see people for who they are!”

Jacobs praised star Lily Gladstone and the other Indigenous actors as “the only redeeming factors of this film,” writing that “the Osage characters felt painfully underwritten” compared to the white antagonists.

the most prominent being that while Scorsese is an undeniable storyteller

I can only have a certain amount of sympathy for someone who willingly triggers themselves like this. There’s absolutely no way I can buy she didn’t know what the movie would entail, and she could just not watch it if it would have that much of an effect on her.

I understand wanting a story to be told from the underrepresented perspective, and I also want underrepresented groups to get more opportunities to tell their own stories (NOT because people can’t tell stories about groups they’re not a part of, but because generally speaking they have less incentive to tell stories

Use more buzzwords, it comes off really intelligently.

No! I’m off today and I’m making it about this!

So, the teacher’s a math teacher but they teach the fourth grade. Does elementary have different teachers for different subjects now? I just had the one underpaid teacher. Also, what’s with the parent referring to the teacher as “the professor?” This whole thing’s weird.

I don’t have much to add that hasn’t been said here already.  Such a braindead, corporate simping take.  I hope Ray Greene is a pseudonym because I’d be utterly embarrassed to have this in my byline.

It’s essentially an 1,100 word, mean-spirited ‘OK Boomer.’  Like, grow up, you spoiled children.

This site used to be such an important voice in film and television. Very sad to see where it is now.

This is genuinely one of the most rancid, thoughtless articles in the history of the AV Club. It is antithetical to what this website used to be. G/O Media should do us a favor and shut the whole fucking thing down.
