I disagree about A Clockwork Orange…I'd love to see what Lynch would do with it. Or for a completely different take, the Cohen Brothers. Really, though, like a lot of things that have been mentioned that are already adaptions from books, it wouldn't really be a "remake" so much as a new adaption from the same source

It can be two things!

I have to admit, every time I see that ad I'm amused at how that bit of pretty raunchy humor slipped by the Million Moms and the Parents TV Council.

I'm about halfway through Dead Wake, by Erik Larsen. One of the things I love about his writing is that even though it's historical non-fiction, and you know what the climactic event is, it doesn't take away at all from the tension in the build up to it.

I haven't read Charlotte Simmons yet, but is the song worse that "Baby, Can You Dig Your Man" from The Stand?

Well, duh! And/or obviously.

I don't know if I'd go amazing…it's generally just chocolate with a shitload of food coloring, right?
I did once make red velvet cupcakes from a box mix, and was really amused that the batter just looked like a big bowl of ketchup.

I'm 7 episodes in, and one thing that struck me as I was watching, I couldn't remember a lot of the characters names, not until I started reading through these reviews. Particularly Black Cindy, Taystee, Poussey, Suzanne. Is it just me, but have they not really referred to one another by name much in-show this season?

I was thinking that obviously none of these contestants were AV Club commenters. I'm guessing around here most people would know at least 2 out of 3 of those triple stumpers in the film category

As far as "no allegation of molestation"…well, I suppose it depends on how you look at it. Feeling your much younger sister up under her panties while she's sleeping, in my book, is molestation. But I'd hate to disagree with your relatives.

A little sad no one knew ruby port…does no one drink port anymore? It's delicious!

Lucky for you, there's this great "Newbies" section of GoT reviews here that is specifically for non-book readers

Even still…my understanding is that the link between diabetes and autism is that the former (particularly gestational diabetes) causes the latter. The question reversed the causation, (it said the condition was linked to an increased risk for diabetes)

What was with that correction? Since when does autism lead to diabetes?

I'd have to go back and look at the earlier scenes, but this one just struck me as particularly jarring with the cuts from anything showing her face, to her body without her face.

And lack of Billie Piper nudity - that they are shooting around a body double is painfully obvious. Is she really that much of a 'get' as a cast member that they have to accept a no-nudity clause for a Showtime series, as opposed to pretty much every other actor on the show?

I kind of thought that, too. It's a little bit of an unusual title for an American audience, and I assume they are hoping for a lot of viewers when it comes on BBC America.
That said, the book, with the same title, did hit #3 on NYT Bestsellers, and lasted 11 weeks on the list, so why jeopardize that recognition.

Off topic, but not sure where else to discuss it..they've been previewing Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell during Orphan Black. I had no idea BBC was adapting it, It looks pretty promising, anyone else looking forward to seeing how they do with it?

I think they'd speed it up considerably, and add a degree of difficulty, if they just let them give one answer and get a strike for any wrong answers

I recall the Hilton interview shortly after she got out of jail. He kept peppering her with questions about her jail time, and she kept trying to change the subject to talk about her perfume or music or whatever crap she was trying to pitch, but he has having none of it. She finally told him "I don't want to talk
