Honestly I think it’s less about what you say and more about encouraging proper eating habits, eventually teaching how to cook and making sure there is always a certain amount of physical activity. Getting into that kind of routine when you’re older is hard and I wish I learned it when I was younger.

That’s the saddest thing I’ve heard in a while.  I’m so sorry that you had to hear that come from your daughter.  I always worry about my two girls and dread having to experience that with them.

We had a long talk about how fat wasn’t something you are, but rather just something that everyone has. Some people have more and some people have less. And I tried to talk to her about how she is strong and athletic and how her body does exactly what it’s supposed to.
