No, that was Survivor.

Nope. I teach 8th-12th grades, and my kids consistently call me Miss PromQueen1313 (first or last name). Or, worse: ma’am. I seriously had them write an essay on how respect is demonstrated by their behavior in my classes—not having food fights, completing their assignments, raising their hands, etc.—and NOT by what

As a fellow survivor, it sounds like you got out, so: all the hugs and high fives.

This happened to me when I was 30 something. I live by a high school and occasionally cut through the parking lot on walks. I get pulled aside every time by the para pros who want to see my off-campus pass. I am almost 37 and I TEACH HIGH SCHOOL. (At a different high school.) I’m just going to keep hydrating and

In the Caribbean. Don’t want to doxx.

I eat salads for breakfast on the regular.I don’t get to work ready for a nap. Magic!

It’s very easy to make your own! Cut up stale bread, throw in a ziploc with some olive oil, salt, pepper, and whatever other herbs you want. Shake and bake. (I do 350 degrees until it smells heavenly.)

What is your homemade balsamic dressing??? I need to know!

I loooooooove salad. Arugula & spinach, boiled egg, garbanzo beans, goat cheese, red wine vinegar, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, broccoli and bacon if I’m feeling frisky. Sometimes I add brown rice or quinoa.

What is a blue carrot???? Google just gives me catering places AND I NEED TO KNOW.

I want to hug your Dad. My abuser came to visit me in the hospital room (he’d put me in) and the policemen stationed outside my door asked if I wanted them to remove him. I said, No, I want to yell at him until he leaves out of shame. Which I did, through my swollen-shut jaw, and he did leave. Boom. If my Dad had been

Good for you on getting out. It takes, on average, six attempts for a woman to leave an abusive partner for good. And having a support system is so incredibly important. Glad you’re safe now.

You have zero education? I did not receive any education in education—if that makes sense—but I have skill sets, most of which are not super practical. One of the things my students (hs) started last year, before I returned to this school, was plant a community garden and they plan on expanding it and adding animals

If you can teach anything, you can. I’m living in the DR, for free, and though I get paid a pittance, I have no housing or utility payments. Also: there are chickens all over my neighborhood AND my school’s soccer field. Also: I get to grade papers on the beach.

Super-awesome bookstore. Chicago has a (much smaller one) in Hyde Park. It’s comparable to The Strand in NYC. But clearly chiller.

I would never change my name—it’s very rare, and I use it professionally. I have told my possibly-future BF I’d take his last name as my middle name. He was cool with that. Might work?

Depends on your doctor. I'm on an only as-needed drug which I don't take nearly as often as I should, because I throw up from anxiety wayyyyy too often. Anxiety sucks; please see your doctor, and I hope it gets better. Hugs.

I had to explain this to my lighter-skinned students in the DR (one of whom actually wrote a paper about how Haitians had higher rates of getting TB because they are "dirty"—and she was one of my most intelligent students). They were incredibly shocked when I said they would not be considered white in the US. Made for

I’m guessing you were an ugly kid. All the beautiful women I’ve met started out as homely kids.

What evidence is this based on? (White woman, moving to a brown country where racism is WAY more prevalent than it is in the US).
