AFAIK it has the same 1.5l Turbo that’s in the Chevy Malibu so at least they will have parts to service it, still a weird choice.
Chevrolet does sells the Captiva where I live with a 2.2l Diesel and according to the goverment fuel economy test it gets 17.5 km/l in highway, that’s 41.1 MPG. A smaller 2.0l diesel does exist according to wikipedia but I don’t have the numbers for that. With a 65l tank (17.1 gallon) it should get 702.8 miles of…
If somehow he had a Diesel Captiva it has a 17 gallon fuel tank and gets 38 mpg highway, that’s a range of 646 miles, so he only had to refuel once if he drove in perfect conditions.

At least in Europe they have both Seat (affordable and sporty) and Skoda (affordable and practical) below VW. And in places like South America, India and South Africa they do sell affordable cars which wouldn’t sell well in the US where most people want luxury (that’s how the US gets Acura, Infiniti, Genesis, etc...).
The new generation is 100% VW with new engines and platform.
The brand is focusing on the styling more than the capability, you don’t buy a Mini because it’s small, you buy one because it looks cute.
But not all of Europe drives on the left, only the UK has RHD cars.
We need to stop Prioratizing these puns!
