I’m so sorry. I know (at least some) of those feelings, too. I am female and I was much younger, but my mother’s response when I told her years later was “we’ll never speak of this again.” Not that I was lying, but just clearly, clearly not nearly as important as keeping everything nice and easy and respectable…
