I think this is also true, yes. To be honest, though, as someone entering a helping profession, most people aren’t doing it for pure altruism...if such a thing even exists. We’re just more willing to do the study and massive debt to get our hit of do-gooder and white knight feels.

I don’t disagree with you. I think there’s a distinction between not following through with a common curtesy and being responsible for someone’s death. I agree with you in general but when someone is shit-faced drunk, you have to assume they’re too compromised to make adult decisions and the decent thing to do is help them out.

It sounds SXWS made a decision that an event that would entail security was not the appropriate venue for them, which is probably the safer decision in the long run. I hate that the event was basically bullied out of existence, but it’s better that it’s being held at…
