I’m pretty sure Whoopi is a staunch defender of Polanski too so this is the opposite of a surprise. I’m still kind of a fan of Whoopi because nostalgia but she is making it hard. Definitely don’t go to her for nuanced rape culture commentary.

Sorry ignore this, I thought better of my comment!
That’s smart! Thank you. :) I think a lot of the stuff would appeal to collectors, for sure.
Thank you! I’m not sure how comfortable I am in getting rid of things right now, but I’m probably going to move in about a year or so...and I suspect not everything will survive that transition, lol. She knows where all of her things go in my current living space, but having a new space with new rules means I might be…
Okay but what do you do when a lot of your clutter comes from gifts? Like, my mom keeps buying me kitschy Coca-Cola themed stuff. Like, I collect old Coca-Cola bottles but I do not collect everything old that has to do with Coca-Cola. Except that now I do, because my mother has bought it for me. I can’t throw it out…
Were you wearing sweatpants? Please tell me you were wearing sweatpants.
So...it really had nothing to do with sweatpants? More like romantic rejection, which is a sucky but much more common reason to commit murder?
I know smart people who think this way. I think it’s funny that ladies having just one word is considered sooooo scary. Are these people also going to campaign to change ‘mankind’? Or other words that start with/assume man as the default?
Doctor! I don’t want to scare you since I am no doctor, but the first thing I thought of was appendicitis. Go so you can rule out all the scary stuff. As a traveler in a foreign land, you are vulnerable to a lot of stuff you've never been exposed to in your life before.
I hope you put Easter eggs on the tree around Easter! My family may have done that once or twice. 😉
Unfortunately, no, if you trace Gamergate back to its roots it has always been about hatred of women. It was just a specific woman, at first, and then they branched out.
I’ve never been in this position. It sounds awful. I’m so sorry.
How is this an example of them abolishing the gatekeepers? This story is literally an example of the gatekeepers at work. I’m not trying to be snarky, I’m just genuinely confuzzled. :/
I wouldn’t expect anyone to be in a marriage with a gender they are not sexually attracted to. If you are not bi or pan and your spouse changes gender, it’s understandable to have difficulty with it and to ultimately end the relationship. It’s sad because both parties are doing what they got to do in order to be true…
No, I agree with you. It was a spiteful thing to say and I was shocked when he said it. Still, I can understand some resentment bubbling up because divorce is hella hard and I think he seems really disappointed that the marriage didn’t work out. But I can understand it from her side too.
It is a little tricky. I guess my feeling is, yeah, it was a stupid thing to do and it was fair of them to fire her.
I had the impression that, legally, schools are mandated to provide reasonable accommodations for children with special needs. So I guess the argument would be about what constitutes ‘reasonable’.
He does have a birthday coming up, and I’m probably going to get a rice cooker as someone else suggested. I might even get it as an early birthday present so that he has it sooner.
The problem is that my mom has brought it up with him so now he’s pretty on guard about it. He does have a history of depression that I think was responsible for some of the initial weight loss, but right now he’s doing really well so I think it’s more of a case of convenience. I will try to broach the subject with…
Well, his birthday IS coming up...
