Don’t feel guilty! That’s what vacation is all about. You need to have some time without kid AND work. I sometimes take a vacation day, let the nanny come, pretend I am going to work and I drive myself over to my parent’s house- 5 min away. I just need some time to stare at a tv.

I just (sadly) thought of this post yesterday. I was speaking via text with the mother of my son’s friend, and she let me know that she lost her baby on the way to the hospital a few years ago. She just had a new baby and was explaining that she had been so worried the whole pregnancy.

It’s not worth it to start fights with racist relatives. Trust me, it’s not going to change their minds and quite frankly I’d rather have a nice, quiet holiday than a shouting match. And I don’t hate them because they are ill-informed idiots.
