I remember reading Nader’s book after the 2000 election when he specifically made the case that voting Green in pres elections was rather pointless anyway and that local elections were the greens’ in-roads to national power. What the hell happened to that plan?

I was mildly annoyed by Stein until this week where she teamed up with Fox Business News to stage her tacky appearances at the Dem Convention and when questioned about being used by Fox she would never give a straight answer but instead would revert to her overly personal attacks on Hillary Clinton.

Thirsty basically is slang for being too desperate and eager for something. In Stein’s case she was super thirsty in her bid to get Bernie Sanders to join the Green party ticket and the thirst has grown exponentially as she tries to scoop up all of the disaffected Bernie or Bust contingent.

Great. So we’ll either magic up some geothermal energy sources like Iceland, or give over part of our energy sector to nuclear. Because those are the options, and one of them is sarcastic.

Really? Stein’s record of progressive actions outstrip H. Clinton’s over the past 40 years? Can you outline all of the work Stein has done and the legistlation she has gotten passed, because as far as I can tell, she’s only been the equivalent of a local city council person for 4 years* and... that’s it? Please, show

If you’re voting third party in this election to “increase your choices,” just be aware that you are at best increasing your choices from two bad options to four, since you’re throwing the standard-bearer for a trash political philosophy meant for frat boys who dream of glory in a Mad Max-esque future and a pandering

Depends what state you live in. I will vote for Stein and it won’t help Trump one iota, because I live in a state where Hillary Clinton will win by a wide margin.

The evidence is right there in her statements. She’s just asking questions about the safety of vaccines, including their use of “toxic chemicals” like mercury. She’s curious about the corrupt influences of the government and pharmaceutical industry. These are classic talking points of the anti-vax movement.

Ok but explain this to me because I don’t get it - seriously, people are just cool with staying home and not voting if their most preferred candidate isn’t at the top of the ballot? They don’t have a city councilman they like? Don’t care who their Senator is? Like, this makes no sense to me.

This is the conspiracy theory here Metro. Its a smear going on and you know it. You might like it, you might enjoy it, but its a smear. Dr. Jill Stein is no more a stealth anti-vaxxer than Obama is a secret muslim, but there are people who keep spreading that shit too...

Voting for her is functionally equivalent to voting for Trump, and the fact that she is encouraging people to do that even in swing states makes her every bit as dangerous as he is. Only difference is she should know better.

I agree. This is my biggest problem with the Green Party.

Except that’s not what Stein is saying. She is saying that (a) the reduction in vaccination is alarming, that (b) one of the major reasons why some people have this alarming belief about vaccines is because the proximity of corporate lobbyists to our regulatory apparatus has diminished public trust in said apparatus,

She’s no less a demagogue than Trump, and no less dangerous at this point.

Ditto, I voted for Stein in ‘12 and throughout this current election season she became more and more of a opportunist preying on the Sanders crowd. The Greens could do a lot better than her.

Same here. I think it’s funny I voted 3rd party in 2012 hoping it would have a big influence on 2016. It was my first time, I was so smug thinking I was ‘independent’, and so naive... Now people say they’re voting third party and I’m scared shitless that they are going to allow Trump to win.

Dan Savage went on a rant a while back about how third-party movements should be more involved in local politics instead of simply running for president every four years. That made me look up Dr. Stein’s bio, to see what she’s done:

Several European countries have different scheduling methods, there is no problem with debating it. When fanatics get involved all reasonable and scientific process gets trampled by the political.

I take your larger point, but the term “Chinese medicine” is pretty darn racist. And many Eastern methods - not “sugar water” - for treating ailments are effective.
