Pretty Good Year

Figgy really reminded me of Cook Islands Parvati. She has the same natural, charismatic, sorority-girl quality, but she didn't figure out how to use that to her advantage. Then again, neither did Parvati in her first season. I might be alone here, but I think she'd do well if she returned. She has probably learned not

I think you might be taking this a little too seriously. The "engagement" stuff was clearly a joke, and Jeff Probst was the main one pushing it. Taylor and Figgy seemed mildly annoyed by the way he was shipping them. They're young. They liked each other. I'd bet $100 that they don't even talk anymore.

The problem is that they've already shuffled the tribes this season, but Jeff Probst and the editing team aren't letting the theme go. It doesn't help that the cast is really buying into the theme.

Australian Survivor was so uneven. The pre-merge was awesome, the post-merge was mind-numbing until the final seven (which was an epic episode), and then it got tedious again until the finale, which was a beautifully cinematic experience. The winner gave one of the best Final Tribal Council performances I've ever seen.

Oh, they did the same thing with the Chippendales. One of them was openly gay and had been profiled in several gay magazines before the show aired, but the show itself never mentioned it.

Yeah, I feel the same way. She was one of the six players highlighted in the preview at the end of last season. The others were David, Chris, Zeke, Mari, and Taylor. Mari was probably only included in that set because her occupation fit the theme perfectly. I expect the others, including Sunday, to go pretty far.

Look up the "Getting to Know Bret" secret scene on YouTube. He talks about what it's like being a gay police officer in Boston. It's strange that that hasn't made the show. CBS reality shows are known for milking those types of stories.

That's fair. I think Figgy and Taylor were in Adam's alliance to the extent that all of the Millennials were against Gen-X. Adam's risking that no other Millennial is going to hold his flip against him. It might be a worthwhile risk. We'll just have to wait and see.

It might just be due to the larger cast this season (20 instead of 16 or 18), but I think there's an unusually high number of people who haven't gotten much content. Sunday, Bret, and Will are basically placeholders right now, much like CeCe and Lucy were. That's one-fourth of the cast right there. True to form, CeCe

Something about this season isn't landing right. Maybe it really is just the silly theme, which Jeff Probst simply won't let die, or maybe the cast simply isn't exciting me like the Kaôh Rōng cast did.

Well, there's that, but there's also the fact that the challenge locations, tribe camps, and Tribal Council are often several miles away from each other. A Reddit poster once did a very neat little series that used Google Earth to track the actual locations. Here is a link to the post he did about Survivor: Palau.

I'm not sure that Chris made the right move. I understand that CeCe and David are extremely weak in challenges, but these three-tribe setups never last for long. Cambodia's only lasted for three episodes. Chris has no reason to believe that the Millennials are going to want to work with him long-term.

The contestants never have to hike or swim to challenge locations. The production team uses trucks or boats to transport them.

Oh, I'm sure some other Sucks posters would disagree with you about me being sanctimonious, but thank you. Ever since the Sucks admins closed down CTS, I haven't posted very much. CTS was one of the only worthwhile forums on that site. I typically post here and on Reddit (as BaltimoreAubrey), and I occasionally

I think CeCe is playing the game. At the very least, she seems very loyal to David, but a lot of the dynamics on Gen-X are under-edited. I agree that that alliance of four is very unstable, though. I would not have wasted an idol on a woman who had just snitched on my main ally.

I am. I also used to post here as BaltimoreAubrey, which is also my Reddit username.

You make a good point about the high quality of the commentary here. Survivor Sucks is a cesspool of cynicism and trolling, Rob Has a Podcast's comment threads are dominated by obsessives who will mercilessly berate you if you misstate any obscure piece of Survivor trivia, and I've never been a fan of the upvoting and

For a self-proclaimed superfan, you'd think David would have more awareness about the predictability of Survivor's format. Ever since Survivor: One World, the tribes have been shuffled after four rounds. The only exceptions are Caramoan, Blood vs. Water, and Cambodia, and those were returnee seasons with formats meant

Oh, that's a perfectly legitimate gripe. It's annoying enough when, in a Brains vs. Brawn vs. Beauty season, Probst looks at the Beauty tribe's women and says things like, "You clearly use your looks to get ahead in life," essentially diminishing any other abilities or accomplishments they possess.

Lucy's edit reminded me of Monica's edit from Survivor: Cambodia. (Do you remember her? Of course you don't.) When an invisible character suddenly bursts onto the scene in a negatively toned blaze of glory, it is almost certain that she will be getting her torch snuffed in that same episode. Such characters are
