I think JRPGs are hard to justify playing over the age of, oh, 23 at the oldest? They don’t respect your time at all and they’re all composed of the same tropes. A hard sell if you’re not already a fan of the genre.

More importantly, on the left, it looks like the Wailord is popping out of the character’s pants.

Clearly it’s a pygmy wailord. Or perhaps it’s an inflatable pool toy.

The flavor of the characters is a huge hook for the game, drawing in tons of people who don’t normally care about FPS play in and of itself.
