That whole set of women was so kick-ass, and it continues to make me angry that they didn’t turn that concert into an album.

Thanks! I teach sewing classes in the summer, and the family keeps chickens. One of them was giving me serious side-eye whilst I was teaching and a perfect handle was begun!
This makes so glad that most teacher programs now have a cultural plurality class as a requirement.
That is based off of a very famous experiment- there was a documentary done about it.
As a teacher this baffles me. How could anyone think that this was a good idea?!
At the very least, she should have to jump through the hoops that the teachers have to. I love this movie so much.
I was a plate in a local production. I drove 30+ miles a day for rehearsals. Totally worth it.

Thank you for sharing. She was phenomenal.
That comment right there- that is why I love you Internet stranger.
As a teacher, the thou of her as the Ed Sec scares the bejeezus out of me. She, and her husband, are garbage human beings.
Thank you for sharing this story. It is a part of our history that we are too happy to forget. I remember going to the Oakland Museum of California and seeing the replica of an internment room. It was emotionally overwhelming and spurred me to learn more about the internment.
It was so perfect.
Yesterday was really, really hard. I pulled into the parking lot and witnessed a student being told “now that Trump is in Washington, you have to go back to Mexico.” It was addressed immediately and yet, the offender repeated the behavior later in the day.
