Yes, especially to your last paragraph. I'm surprised at the level of snippy incredulity in some of these responses with respect to EC. I didn't use EC but I see its utility and certainly wouldn't condescend to anyone who wants to use it.

In case anyone wonders, half-marathons do almost none of these bad things to you, and several can be run in one year. I wholeheartedly recommend halves to those who have run a few 10ks and are looking for a bigger challenge—but one that fits within a normally active work schedule. They're a blast.
