Repeated taser right to the heart sounds more like ‘attempted murder’ to me, not just excessive force. If they’d succeeded in killing him it’d probably have been chalked up to ‘excited delirium’ as usual.

Head to SW Georgia, NW Florida, or SE Alabama and see if you still think the Southern drawl is waning in popularity. Keep in mind it’s called ‘Southern drawl’ and not ‘pan-American drawl’.

There used to be a whole bunch of different measurement systems, now everyone is going to Metric. All the other ones are dying off.

It’s sad, but all these endangered animals’ continued existence hinges on their economic viability as tourist attractions. If they aren’t revenue-generating, they’ll go extinct. It’s an interesting subject for debate, whether these species should be allowed to vanish as a result of the expansion / exploitation of our

I moved away from home to a new country a while back and found it really difficult making friends at first. I actually used Tinder for the purposes of making friends. Some dating, too, but primarily met people with the understanding that I was new in town / country and probably looking to try and get a social circle

Or just shower naked. Dogs don’t care about your clothes any more than fish care if you go skinny dipping.

I’m still hoping that we can keep moving toward a future in which our culture doesn’t unnecessarily sexualize everything (topless sunbathing, washing your dog in the shower with you).

Works like a charm for me / my dog. It’s funny how this isn’t the intuitive solution, but once you start doing it, you wonder why you weren’t showering with your pet the whole time.

Same as Korea before it was split. Now the South (the free portion), which was the agrarian breadbasket, is a tech / manufacturing powerhouse while the North, with its essentially unlimited supply of free human labor, struggles with famine and extreme poverty where it used to be the manufacturing and heavy industry

Honestly, I don’t think the slavery portion would still exist

The UAE, an extremely wealthy and technologically advanced nation(s), still uses slave labor illegally sourced from poor third-world countries.

“If Wisconsin wants to do it, who cares?”

I read something interesting while doing a bit of research. The following is from the American Psychological Association:

It’s about banning *all* trans people from military service.

It’s not disenfranchisement of trans people to restrict coverage of gender reassignment surgery any more than it’s disenfranchisement of small-breasted people to restrict coverage of breast implants. I know you will hate that example, but the point is hat ‘psychological distress’ stemming from a perceived,

Caveat - I’m all for helping people altruistically but am trying to be the devil’s advocate for the military (a publically funded institution that specializes in shooting people and blowing things up).

The idea of medical care is that you keep people healthy enough to perform their jobs and be productive in society. Elective procedures - those which do not treat or remedy a physiologically threatening condition - aren’t always covered by medical plans.

If a diabetic doesn’t get insulin, the diabetic dies.

You’re right, it’s not medically necessary. They shouldn’t be covering that either.
