I’m happy you guys put “Blue Star” on the donuts section for Portland. Everyone told me to hit Voodoo, and my gf and I were underwhelmed. Taking a donut and then putting bacon and nutella on it isn’t exactly revolutionary.

This, and the past several posts you’ve made, have me fairly convinced that you area deeply biased Christian unwilling / unable to separate your own personal superstitions from your sensibilities regarding what is / isn’t ‘discrimination’.

I’m guessing you’re a moderate Christian and view yourself as both very tolerant but also justified in your mistrust of / dislike for certain other religious groups. Am I close?

It’s downplayed in the series, but Euron has just about as deep / broad knowledge of the arcane as anyone in the series. He is much more than just a bloodthirsty pirate type - he’s privvy to some seriously dark knowledge which probably applies to combat as well.

Gunpowder and cannon aren’t a common technology in Planetos. More likely are casks / urns of flammable liquid. That, and some of the magic / supernatural stuff Euron picked up on his journeys.

There’s a little wiggle room at my company, since each job category / level / location has an upper and lower pay limit. Generally speaking, though, your pay is mathetmatically determined by your job type, state of residence, and years of service. I was hired by a woman, promoted by a woman, and was hired onto my next

Here’s how you do it:

Coppers and Poppers. I’ve never done poppers but I imagine they’d make the process a lot more fun for everyone?

What’s the takeaway? Are we to be resentful of men for trying to make the most of an uncomfortable and semi-stigmatized medical procedure? are we grudgingly respectful of the men who take responsibility for their side of birth control? Are we just reflexively angry at hearing the word ‘bro’ applied to anything?

I agree, up to a point — as long as ‘diversity in religion’ leads to the religious accepting that their beliefs are not absolutely correct and that skepticism, doubt, and tolerance are more valuable than compliance and dogmatic adherence.

I don’t hate religion. Calm down.

Also... if you’re going to keep pretending that race (involuntary biological condition) and religion (voluntary personal choice) are the same beast, we’re not going to be able to have a productive discussion.

By blowing up the Great Sept of Baelor, Cersei was doing the respectful thing. You know, since the Great Sept represented the destruction of the aboriginal, nature-respecting Children of the Forest and their old gods in favor of an arbitrary, man-made religion that justified sexual repression among other things. Go

Communism enforced a secular society and punished people for being religious. Nazism enforced a ‘preferred race’ society and punished people for being gypsy / Jewish. Again, you’re twisting things.

It’s almost as though the destruction of that relic was symbolic of Cersei’s (and her retinue’s) lack of respect for history and tradition. Hmm.

True enough (with respect to Bible and Quran), but they’re derived from a shared set of myths and stories passed down from the bronze age / very early iron age.

True, people will find a way to discriminate. However, saying ‘getting rid of religion won’t cure discrimination’ is like saying ‘getting rid of guns won’t cure violence’. Religion may not be the sole source of discrimination, but it is a major one.

I see your attempt to twist my words, and I’ll bite. ‘Racism’ doesn’t provide justification for discrimination. Racism is discrimination, a specific form of it.

Of course. To each his own. Still, I’d like to see anyone try to argue that more religion somehow means less discrimination. Not likely.

As have members of every society everywhere. Personal sovereignty is somewhat different than this ‘social contract’ of which you speak. I actually agree that face coverings are something we can legitimately ban at public schools or on government / official property, but I still stand by my point that a broad swath of
