This is not the best practice for reducing recidivism, but it sounds like he’s counting on that. That way Republicans can rant and rave about releasing violent criminal some time in the future.

It’s understandable that Henneke and others disapproved of Devlin’s sudden incompetence, but it seems strange that they’d be outright hostile to his decision to let young people charged with crimes off the hook.
