Can somebody explain to me the extent of Cameron’s involvement in this new movie? If he’s not directing, then is the story written by him? Is he just producing it? If his level of involvement is just shooting the breeze about a couple of story ideas and plot points with Tim Miller, then I am not very hopeful that this…

The spore drive still functioning bothers me. If Discovery can warp across the galaxy instantaneously with it, why isn’t StarFleet sending a thousand scientists to Discovery to try to replicate this technology??   The spore drive feels like a huge cheat, and one that no longer needs to be in the story.

One thing I like about Discovery is that they do a good job of avoiding the “Stock set” feel.  Sometimes with TNG it felt like we were on the same soundstage set too often.  You had the bridge, the ready room, the bar, engineering, and then rinse wash repeat.   Discovery, with it’s updated FX makes the sets look…
