no no no no no. Despite many a craigslist ad, BMW never built a V6. What this motor basically is, is 2 BMW M20 SOHC motors grafted together. You’re right in saying that it does have 2 sets of electronics, one for each bank, as the motor is essentially run as 2 straight 6s.
