Much like my server, laptop, TV, and game console, I hate it when my car is doing stuff other than it’s my intended purpose. I tolerate it a little better with my phone because those functions I didn’t ask for frequently provide value.
It’s a network externality when you have a phone, and it’s nearly useless because you have the only working phone, and it becomes more useful as more people have phones that work, and it becomes nearly indispensable when everybody has one.
