That’s a mega stupid design. A better design with the car returning to center would be pushing the shifter forward, let it return, then push it again, let it turn, push it again to get to park or just have a button that says park on it.

A car will not let you take the keys out of the ignition if the car isn’t in park.

Break in periods don’t matter all that much anymore tbh. Manufacturing has gotten so much better. Plus pushing an engine hard breaks in the engine. You can’t expand the piston rings by pussy footing around so the piston rings won’t come in contact with the cylinder wall correctly anyway.
