Oh wow! Good luck to you both. Thanks for sharing your love of the automotive world with us. The world is a better place thanks to your contributions.

Love of Gordie is universal in Canada not just among Red Wing fans. I honestly thing putting his name on the bridge is what finally got it out of political deadlock. His popularity is what was needed to move essential infrastructure into the limelight.

There was a large GM factory presence in my town and many older people are committed to the brand.

No, Ottawa is the capital city of Canada. They aren’t shutting down the capitol building, the protest is attempting to shut down the city.

It is an important point. To an international audience it is hard to explain just how revered Terry Fox is. I think every Canadian has the image of him limping down the road and dying trying to reach his goal.

To anyone outside Canada; defacing a Terry Fox statue is something that really gets people riled up. Terry wasn’t a cancer researcher. He was a youth who when diagnosed with Cancer lost one of his legs and tried to run across the country raising funds for cancer research. Every Canadian has images of him limping down

It’s clear you haven’t tried to book porta-potties in the last two years. The porta potty business has been booming because of how many indoor restrooms have been closed. Hopefully these protestors booked ahead.

You can have a lot of people supporting the movement but still have a very small percentage of the population in support. I drove to work a few minutes ahead of the convoy last week. I saw protestors getting set up on the one highway entrance. I probably saw 800 people on three highway overpasses cheering and waving

Definitely a Battletech situation here.  Start with a Jenner and move up from there.

They had a cool design. But there are some big competitors in the consumer electric pickup market now. Unless they could really stand above the competition I can’t see why many people would take a chance on a new comer. GM, Ford, and even Rivan and Tesla have more resources to attract consumers and the market for

When it was first announced I thought that the radical design and big presence could attract the kind of people who want something ostentatious. The kind of person who would have bought a Hummer 20 years ago. But now that Hummer will be back in the game with a wild and flashy design I have no idea who their target

Thank you for validating that Nissan Rogue’s are over represented in lightless driving. For years I have wondered if it was some kind of confirmation bias that it always seems to be a Rogue. Maybe I was just ignoring other models... I’m glad to know someone else noticed this.

I’ve also noticed that the Rogue is a big offender.

I don’t have any conclusive answers but I do remember reading a business case about the Smart car that might be relevant. (This is all old memories so some details are bound to be incorrect)

The Smart was released about 10 years before the iQ (in most markets). When a product is appealing to a niche market the first mover advantage is a big deal. Only so many people want a car this small, if you needed a tiny vehicle you would have already bought a Smart car when the iQ came out.

I think I would have picked the Charger and Challenger even without the leading picture. The Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tundra have finally been updated so the Dodge siblings should be the next on the block. I like both of them and they have had a lot of minor updates over the years, but its time for some new sheet

Fully agree! Buffalo is a cool city with a lot of neat things to see. Nothing amazing enough to make it a destination but an excellent day trip city when you are in the area. Pierce Arrow Museum, Grain Silos, Remarkable buildings and houses, the Museum, Bisons Games, a good music scene, it has a lot going for it.

I share this story any time someone is talking about licence plates. Sorry if you heard it before. Best one I ever saw was X32 IARO. I was staring at it while stopped at a light and couldn’t make out any pattern or words. As I pulled away I glanced in my rear view mirror and saw it clear as day. When reversed it

They shared a similar frame the but it was modified. It wasn’t just different panels like most of the other GM vehicles. GM engineered a substantial amount of pretentiousness into the H2.

I use to do work for a guy who exported cars from Canada. This was around 2009 when the Canadian dollar was naturally high. Even then the US demand for used trucks was so high it was worth exporting them in large numbers. From what he told me they all go to the US south where they aren’t as scared about the salt
