I use to do work for a guy who exported cars from Canada. This was around 2009 when the Canadian dollar was naturally high. Even then the US demand for used trucks was so high it was worth exporting them in large numbers. From what he told me they all go to the US south where they aren’t as scared about the salt

A functioning car for under $3 grand! Nice Price!

Yes, people were mad.

I remember those, it really was bad for a larger car. I believe you were suppose to rest your forehead against the front seat headrest.

That see-saw analogy is exactly what I needed when I learned. I remember my dad just kept telling me to stop stalling and I had no clue why the car was stalling. It didn’t occur to me that I could increase propulsion before the car was fully in gear so I thought the clutch had to be released before I hit the gas.

Well, listen baby. My car, uh, doesn’t exist, so...we’ll take the buss.... I have a pass

I’m not anti minivan but I would still be concerned about a Astro/Safari/ Aerostar. Having a hoard of kids is one thing, but those old mid sized vans have a strong house-van image. Mix that with a seal of approval from the kidnappers guild and terrible crash ratings and its an overall concerning vibe that says “be

I never really got the appeal of heated seats. A Heated steering wheel though is a blessing. I often forget my mitts and the wheel steals all the warmth from my hands.  I get that I’m the odd one out here but that is the feature I will be looking for in my next vehicle.

Consumer Reports ranks the individual dodge vehicles. Durango 2/3 Charger 4/5 and Challenger 3/5 for reliability. What they don’t do is include the Dodge brand in their overall brand ranking because at only 3 models it doesn’t have enough different products to qualify.

Dodge was probably disqualified for only offering 3 different models of vehicle. Not offering enough models was cause for exclusion. Which makes sense since it is a brand quality survey and with only three models one success or failure would vastly effect the overall brand score.

And half of the people aware of the non-existent Toyota BEV are considering buying the vehicle.

I suppose if they started with a Fiesta it is fair to compare it to compacts and subcompacts. I was just thinking of the same size class as the G6.

Depending on the price a G6 might not be such a bad idea. I owned a G6 for a year around 2008. It was 3 years used when I bought it and had a year warranty (2 drivetrain). It wasn’t a well build vehicle but the price reflected that. I remember I had about 9 grand (Canadian) and all the comparable accords were around

Another buyer of basic cheap cars are people who have been burned on the used market before. I know a few people who had a very expensive mistake buying what seemed like a good deal on a used car only to regret it later. Some people see the economy car as a reliable bet and put a huge value on the warranty.

My local GM dealership is almost empty. A few trucks and interestingly 7 Chevy Sparks. I was thinking the budget cars would likely use a fraction of the chips a high end vehicle does so they might be less constrained. However these Sparks are not the budget model and are all automatics with WIFI, Bluetooth and Serious

I can’t really claim Canada is part of the educated world but my curriculum was in the Ohio camp .

I use to audit automotive parts. The stuff we were blamed for was absurd. If I saw several years worth of inventory sitting around I would certainly ask questions because that is a possible problem. As long as I received satisfactory answers I would leave happy. I need to see that you are telling the truth. I’m not

100% agree with everything.

Ah the EchoSport. Fords answer to the Chevy Trax. The Ford being more expensive, less fuel efficient, lower cargo space and according to consumer reports - less reliable. While I’m normally sad when an affordable car leaves our market this was a sub-compact priced like a compact.

Yep! I came here to say the Prius V. I’ll also second that is is boring. They are dull to drive, have little emotion and just kind of travel along the road doing what you ask of it. They are reliable, a bit slow, reasonably comfortable and easy to live with. Nothing really interesting to say at all (after the hybrid
