What’s even better is that this is 100% pulled from the republican playbook. It has happened multiple times over the years where a Democrat wins the governorship in a red state only for an emergency session of the state congress to pass a bill restricting their powers before they enter office.

Yeah, putting aside the “cheering for mega-corps” angle, Desantis was literally just trying to retaliate because his fascist policies weren’t liked, and install stooges on these boards for the sole purpose of blackmailing Disney into altering its content by holding hostage the things that council controlled. That’s *li

A take can be correct

like the $140 million Daisy Jones & The Six series

Amazon relies too much on data, frustrating creators

You know they can always restart the Expanse....oh wait diverse cast, messages about corporate greed, real science...

I mean, yeah. And that’s not a great place to be if your show cost 700 million to produce!

Lukewarm take: the show was neither particularly good nor particularly bad.

I hope Kinja didnt make this the size of a monitor...

Lets be clear about it, this is one of those “feature, not a bug” situations.

Pay isn’t typically about fairness, it’s about demand. At the time, there were other productions that would pay Douglas $10+ million to star in their film, so that’s how he gets that salary. If they’d cast Michelle Pfeiffer, she probably would’ve gotten something closer to the $3 million she reportedly got for Batman

No shit, nobody knew who the hell she was, and Douglas was a bankable star. Of course she got paid less

There are tons of real examples that can be used to make that point. This isn’t one of them.

Come on…this is total non-issue.

I don’t deny that the issue exist, I’m saying that this was a very bad example of it. The video compares her salary with Douglas’, which is meaningless.

When BI was made, Michael Douglas was an Academy Award winning actor with a lot of box office successes under his belt. Stone was a rising star who had a breakout role in Total Recall, but had never (?) been a lead actress in a film.

I think a point is being made about the example in the article not being a good one. In 1992, Sharon Stone wasn’t nearly as famous as Michael Douglas.

Well, er - look at her filmography. It’s not like her work prior to that point would command a big salary. Blame her agent for not doing better.
