One of the better ways to get me to part with my money is to release an update of a fighting game. This’ll be the umpteenth version of VF5 I have. Does that make me loyal or stupid? Probably both. Ah well. Take my money, Sega!

Obviously I’m a Paragade. Except when I’m a Renegon.

Time to hook the OG Xbox back up, play some MechAssault, and try this easter egg out.

What? WHAT? Oh fuck, this one hurts. Goddammit. Goddammit!

It might be a bit obscure, but either Wonder Boy III for the SMS or Dragon’s Curse for the TG-16 would be great candidates for a remake, since they were both basically the same game. And both were a ton of fun; examples of a Zelda 2 clone done right. A HD remake of either with faster, more kinetic gameplay like Zelda

It wouldn’t surprise me if it was the voice direction. Great actors (of which LaKeith is one) can do great voice acting. It’s there in him, but none of that manifested in Yasuke. I have no idea why, and in the end it’s disappointing.

Most of the Black nerds I know got into anime with DBZ, via Toonami. Not so much Cowboy Bebop. In my experience, DBZ seems to be the ur-text. It was that period starting around 1997 and both DBZ and Pokemon combined to create this massive influx of new anime fans in the U.S. that I’d never seen prior to that, Black or

You know you’re old when you look at that picture of all of those games and realize that not only do you own almost all of them, but you own them in the exact same boxes that are in the picture.

Sure I liked it. It was fine. It was fun! You can’t go into watching a movie like this and expect anything really coherent. You just have to roll with it and hope that there are plenty of great fight sequences. And there were! The movie is a good time.

Fantastic interview! This woman is responsible for so much of the soundtrack of my childhood. I was listening to video game music like the Mega Man soundtrack while everyone else was listening to hair metal, and I have never regretted it for one second. I’m just incredibly grateful to her.

Transphasic torpedoes aren’t going to work on that sucker. Voyager’s going to need Torpedo Ted for this one:

CLOWNS!!

The soundtracks were particularly killer. I still have the Capcom vs. SNK 2 OST on regular rotation.

A COVID outbreak? Is the vaccine rollout in Japan not going well? Or do they not have any vaccine to begin with? Or is it a little of both? I haven’t paid much attention to Japan’s vaccination situation lately, so I don’t know.

T-Pain is joy. Also, more importantly, he’s the live-action Frylock.

To be fair to other shonen protagonists, they all generally have high emotional intelligence. Shonen heroes crying and/or showing empathy to their opponents, etc., is more the norm than the exception.

Ouch. This one hurts. RIP, Kikuchi-san.

I just love that Demon Slayer is rocking it everywhere. My inner child is grinning up a storm over it. More good anime/manga getting more recognition and success globally is always a good thing.
