I do check the coolant for color and cleanliness. If I see anything other than clean BMW blue I usually do a drain and flush before filling with the BMW coolant. Same goes for power steering fluid.

Lifetime fluids for most cars means 150,000. Opening up a closed system that's working fine before it's due falls firmly into the "if it ain't broke" category.
