That she doesn't identify with the political movement that calls itself feminism which is the same thing a good portion of the celebrities who don't identify as feminists are saying. There is a difference between the academic definition of feminism, which exists as a theoretical ideal, and the movement feminism which

"One more time: feminism (noun):the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men. feminist (noun): a person who supports feminism. "

" It's useful and good to be ally yourself with like-minded people. It doesn't mean you have to agree with evvvvvverything they think/do."

Even though I don't always agree with bell hooks, I actually agree with what she says about identity vs action in regards to feminism. I don't really care if a WoC identifies as a feminist (I currently don't, even if I specify that I believe not only the ideology, but the general need for a movement). If she is

Exactly. I don't understand this obsession with making everyone identify as being a feminist. Why the need to label people? Why can't they just live their life as an example of being a powerful woman without having to saddle themselves with being "feminist"?

That, and the fact that feminst circles can be hostile and intolerant. I'm a feminist but I definitely have issues with the movement.

Oh look, a bunch of white women getting indignant over how a woman of color identifies her pro-woman activism.

Sorry but her work speaks louder than her words and that is what matters, she is helping some of the most underprivileged women in the world.

But this website also won't claim the f-word, so there's that.

Kinda makes me reel when I read comments from people knocking on other women who claim to be feminists because it isn't the "right" kind of feminism. At least they claim it.

Women have different reasons for not wanting to identify themselves as "feminists."

First she is actually doing something about women's rights which is a hell lot more than most Tumbler feminists ever have done or will do.
