I think it's because I'm chronically contrary, but is anyone else experiencing a weird morphing of their feelings about Paltrow? I mean, I think she's utterly ridiculous and eminently silly. To call her a little bit out-of-touch is like calling the sun a little bit hot. She's galactically privileged and has no idea

And as rich and privileged as she is, male actors with equivalent imdb filmographies make way more money.

Yeah, fair enough, I don't really know how payscales in that industry work. I'm sure there is TONS of sexism she's encountered in her career but it may not apply to equal pay specifically. Although I wouldn't be surprised if there are similar issues with contract sizes/negotiation that women face with negotiating

I mean, I think she's still allowed to be pissed off if she gets paid less than Jason Schwartzman or whatever (yes I have actually not seen any of her movies except Royal Tanenbaums.) Though the "working mother" phrase definitely implies that it's a matter of economic security for her which it clearly isn't, I'd be

Shrug, I don't get the Paltrow hate. She works, she's a mother, therefore she's a working mother. She has a celebrity platform and she's using it to advocate for equal pay. I have zero problem with that.

Lol but really tho: falling on a sword and killing yourself is more appealing than a good cause backed by Paltrow, because Paltrow?

thin pregnant women do get skinny shamed. They also get yelled at by total strangers. It's so much fun.

Edit: never mind!

I will say it does happen. I'm not exactly skinny (about two pounds away from being "overweight" on the BMI before I got pregnant), but I guess I look much smaller right now than what people expect a woman at 20 weeks with twins to look like, because I get a lot of "But you're so tiny!" comments from people with

*redacted*

Ok, mommy wars and size shaming aside, aren't there certain developmental concerns tied to gestational weight gain that are worth worrying about? I mean, obvs that I don't want smug advice from the Daily Mail, but I also don't want to get gestational diabetes, etc.

Seriously. She's talented, but it's not like we haven't seen this 1000 times before.

"Single and divorced white women don't make much more than black men of same education/employment levels"

white people ( not just white men) do benefit from the government over poc. it's called institutional racism for a reason.

"That doesn't mean this aspect of oppression isn't worth discussing, which is what lalatheevil is saying." no,they're not. lala and i are talking about the convo of racism and how it's always framed around the white man and only the white man.

we're talking about white privilege and racism. white women experience sexism but they also benefit from white privilege/racism.

lol. girl,i just replied to cowbelle with this :

concerning people of color. yes the hell they do.

lol. it's playing the oppression Olympics to bring up facts now? the most common way to frame racism is around how cis/het white men benefit from it. i have yet to see white women mentioned (on this website. on the black/woc feminist websites i visit that's not the case).

White women profit just as much from the system. That's why they love to vote republicans.
