Art is subjective. I really don't see any difference between him spending two years creating this, or a painting, or a sculpture or other form of art. This is a form of art work. It may be virtual, but it is still artwork. By the way, it is pretty amazing and I don't play Minecraft.
I had a voicemail on my work phone from my mom who died this past spring. I worked there 9 years and the position was eliminated about 2 months after her death. The voicemail was the fist thing I thought about when I found out about losing my job. Losing that voicemail was crushing compared to losing that job.
