For a minute there, I was confusing Charlie Hunman with Charlie Day and thought that was an astounding casting choice.

Apparently white men are simply no longer allowed to be creative and/or successful because the entire world is stacked in their favor and they are incapable of getting anywhere in life on their own merit. This is a healthy position to push and will not result in massive social push back at all... I’m sure of it...
But surely it was Lucas’ creation to do with as he pleases (and I say this as someone who also mostly considers the prequels to be crap).
Given that he personally financed all of them except the original Star Wars there was no “got to” about it.
Considering their significant contribution to the events of Star Wars, I think it’s a travesty that not one of the films so far has been directed by a Bothan.
Well seeing as how 4 of the Star Wars movies were directed by the SAME white man and it was his creation.... this article’s premise is so irrelevant as to pass right by being irritating right to being laughable.
He is also the only Beatle who could act. I would put “Caveman” against any cinematic role by other Beatles, where they did not play themselves.
Nothing draws edgy dummies like a Beatles article.
The AV Club has attracted more explicit contrarians as opposed to media junkies. I blame the Kinjaing
This is so wrong. You have no knowledge of music history. The idea of a boy band is a group of pretties put together by some pervy lech. The Beatles came together on their own. That girls found different reasons to latch on to each one: ie Pauls the cute one, John’s the bloody tough, etc was not a decision the band…
Bob Dylan is not that good of a singer. Josh Groban has a much better voice. Therefore Bob Dylan must not be any good.
Of all the hot takes that proliferate on the internet, “Paul McCartney is a poor singer” is the most adorable.
Ooof I don’t know much about currently extra popular music, but I’ve not enjoyed what I’ve heard of Sam Smith and Ed Sheeran much. To say Beatles = shit (I think they’re good and important, but I don’t listen to them much) SS and ES = great has probably more to do with his personal interactions than actual music…
You’re entitled to your opinion of course. But there’s just no real use in designating their musicianship ‘bad’ when their records are so ridiculously listenable and enjoyable and have clearly withstood the test of time for the vast majority of humanity. If music that appreciated is ‘bad,’ then the basic conception of…
He should talk to more people.
A lot of people also confuse being “good” with being technically proficient. Somebody like Steve Vai could play circles around Keith Richards, but Richards is a better guitarist to me because he writes good riffs and plays them in a way that makes me feel stuff. Aimless meedley meedlies may be harder to play, but…
“good musicianship” is overrated. Who listens to pop music for technical virtuosity? I know that’s sometimes what metal and classical audiences want but who cares? My favorite band is the Ramones so what do I know?
Yeah yeah, you produced “We Are The World”. I don’t wanna hear it.
Also, Christopher Priest can actually write. His run is one of my favourite comic books of all time.
Why is Christopher Priest treated like a footnote, here? Hudlin’s work on Black Panther wouldn’t have been possible without Priest’s groundbreaking stint on the character? Treating Priest this way is unforgivable.
