I’ve heard this over and over again, but it finally started sinking in over the past few months: there is nothing inherently wrong with men, but there is something wrong with a society that glorifies men acting like monsters.

I’ve seen other human garbage on the internet saying this is all overblown and nothing more than some inappropriate behavior because he didn’t actually touch anyone.

I agree that the entertainment industry should probably never get on their moral high horse again about...well, anything.

Yeah, I’m just like, why does the predator need credit? Can’t we be happy on be half of the victims being vindicated without praising him? But then this is the place that is still proud of loudly disbelieving the rumors and insulting the women who wrote about them for years.

exactly. Fuck him and fuck him twice for waiting until his livelihood started to suffer. I am skeptical that he’s sorry about what he did. He’s only sorry he got caught.

It’s pretty silent because half of these guys are now starting to sweat bullets and going, “Oh.....shit.”

He waited until his professional livelihood was negatively impacted

You don’t apologize for credit. You apologize because it’s the right thing to do. The oft-quoted “you don’t get a cookie for meeting the bare minimum standard of decent behavior” seems apropos here.

I mean, it’s great he fessed up, but since when in our system has saying sorry been an acceptable price to pay for an assault of this (or any nature)? He should offer compensation. He should volunteer. He should make an earnest attempt to atone for his behavior.

I don’t know it seems a little disingenuous to ignore that he denied the rumours for years, so he couldn’t have been that remorseful.

Would have been better if he’d done it before it blew up in his face.

It would be a lot better if he didn’t feel a need to mention how “admired” he is in the community on 4 different occasions. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Tig gave him the best opportunity any of these people have gotten. All he had to do was use it with honesty and grace and this would’ve blown over a lot faster and he would’ve been held up as actually brave and a demonstration of someone willing to own up to things and change.

OH WELL.

This is the best possible statement he could release, in that he’s still just as much a piece of shit as he was yesterday. Which is a lot, but at the very least he didn’t go “oh they’re lying” or “I was drunk...and now I’m gay!”

Now that the dick is out of the pants (so to speak) I wonder if Louis will be suing Conan over the Masturbating Bear which is clearly (now) originally CK’s schtick.

Lando Calrissian talk show/variety hour with Lobot as the goofy bandleader.

“knowingly falsely claiming that he harassed Jen Kirkman acceptable”

And even after this, you insist on believing that Kirkman wasn’t talking about Louis even though everything she said pointed absolutely to it being Louis?

“THESE ALLEGATIONS WERE NOT MADE IN THE PRESENCE OF A NOTARY PUBLIC AND HAVE A SLIVER OF LEEWAY FOR ME TO IGNORE AND SO IGNORE I WILL.”

They’ll find some way to defend him either way. I avoided posts about him specifically for that reason. It’s amazing to me how willing people are to go to bat for celebrities they don’t even know and have never met. Especially male celebrities.

Amidst all the wailing and gnashing of teeth, hopefully the AV Club commentariat will find it in their hearts to praise the courage of these brave women, who will now have to deal with a ton of flaming shit from every beardbro on the Internet in addition to whatever backlash they suffer in their careers. And that’s
