It sounds like they hit this with a decent amount of sensitivity. That’s good. Like how Blackadder Goes Forth managed to turn trench warfare into a hilarious and timeless sitcom. Until the last episode. Then it wasn’t funny anymore *sniff*
I’ve already seen it, and it IS better:
A) Ellis is perfect for this.
Before I get excoriated, yes, I understand all of the social issues and how this is a problematic way to depict women. But in my defense...look at her.

Rob Liefeld did not create Deadpool, he ripped off the design, abilities, and name of Deathstroke. He has no original idea ideas in his teeny tiny brain and can’t draw to save his life. It wasn’t until Joe Kelly came along that we started to get the Deadpool we know today.
It’s the dumbest thing Marvel has ever done, and I was there for Heroes Reborn, One More Day, Civil War I, and Ultimatum.
I feel like that distinctiveness is discernable mostly only to players of the series. It doesn’t have the same mainstream recognition from non-players like the aforementioned series by KABAZ; Halo and Street Fighter.

I don’t know, I’d say outside of the initial armor sets, the Dark Souls armor sets are extremely distinct; there’s something about their intricate, usually 100%-coverage designs that is so distinctly Souls.
I’m only going to count someone not working on a creator owned title, because then the choices get to be too hard for me. Tie for me, but they’re the two runs I always come back to and read.
I hope the sale of Gawker Media means no more Penny Arcade in this series of articles.

Lets everybody calm down. If anything, pointing out where ST draws influence might (I hope) point some of the younger viewers towards seeking out these films. Owing a debt to genre films isn’t a crutch unless it’s done poorly, which certainly isn’t the case here.
I feel like the constant pointing out of influences and homages on this show is doing it a disservice. Every story comes from something else. Every movie, tv show or even theatre play borrows shots, scenes, or settings from previous works.
I think that instead of praising it, it undermines the fantastic job the Duffer…
