We don’t get a ton of 2-inning Giles, but it does seem like in the 2nd inning he tends to resort to a much higher percentage of fastballs. I don’t know if this is planned sequencing, or if he just doesn’t feel as comfortable with his slider in the 2nd inning of work.

You could potentially justify the Baker firing considering how he ruined Wood/Prior in Chicago and the start that got Max hurt right before the playoffs and put Washington in a huge hole. Is it potentially a dumb thing to fire someone over? Yeah probably, but you can still somewhat justify it in your head.

Everyone in the Houston clubhouse loves him, but hes like 9-0 with the Astros so its easy to see why they would. I’m really curious as to what he said, but there’s multiple people walking by up and down the stairs by him as he says something without double taking so it didnt look negative.

Hill wasn’t the questionable decision. Through 4 he had allowed 7 base runners on 60 pitches. He had 4 RHBs coming in a row in the top of the Houston order, including Bregman and Springer who had two real good ABs each up to that point.

You’re damn right we are. Id be willing to bet 99% of the fanbase was trying to convince themselves to have hope, much less actual confidence we would win when the ball left Seager’s bat in the 6th.

I wasn’t surprised by the HR. I was surprised Giles decided to challenge him repeatedly with fastballs. We were all yelling for nothing but down and away changeups the entire final AB.

One of the cooler things Ive had the chance to see through this Astros season is McCann completely loosening up for the tight-ass “unwritten rules enforcer” guy. Hes been good for the clubhouse but the clubhouse has been very good for him.

They do, and it can be factor. Its only 315' down the line and it doesnt have much of a curve to it, so the opportunity to give up a HR on a deeper routine fly ball is always there. Its kind of similar to the RF corner in Yankee Stadium, how you can get some cheapies you can sneak that wouldnt go out of many

The flaw in your theory is MMP is actually NOT the bandbox Yankee Stadium is. Its a middle of the pack ballpark by HR standards, and it’s literally the top run supression ballpark in the entire MLB. The bandbox reputation hasnt fallen off MMP that it got when it first opened. Crawford boxes being a cheap-o home run

I live in Austin and i don’t get what they expect to get out of the city.

Its still miles and miles better than Tom Savage bouncing it 2 feet in front of them.

I am 100% NOT surprised Ortiz wrote that. He spent his entire writing career when he was writing about the Astros continuously ripping the clubhouse anytime the team is not successful. His favorite things were to call the clubhouse ‘toxic’ anytime there was a losing streak. My personal favorite was an old article

I’m really happy I only hit one on this list (the truck).. But this..

“Struck out too much”? Thats really what you’re going with here? At least initially you tried to use the math to try to be somewhat impartial.

Whats going to be held against Judge is the fact he was putrid in July-August. It does highlight the fact in the other months he was fantastic (including September) but thats a significant stretch that can be pointed to.

Just wait for the Pick-Sixes.

All the live long day!

Well at least your username is correct.

Astros fan here. Do they need to? No. Should they? Yeah probably.

The cable company has data on what you’ve tuned to along with others that is used in a more aggregate form than “what’s Drakkon on Oxygen for 22 minutes on a Saturday night?” Partially due to FCC regulations which does more to protect the consumers, but also because theres just not the cost benefit to going that deep
