I fully believe that they believed they really were going to just kill Payton, leave her body wherever, and live happily ever after with slender man. When they were talking about the original plan to leave her in the bed like she was sleeping, any rational person would know that they’d get caught.

Could be the full weight of her actions is a bit beyond her capacity, yet. How many 12-year-old girls in Waukesha have grappled with the full weight of life and death? Not many.

Morgan believed it to be actually be real. This isn’t an uncommon aspect of people with the degree of mental illness that she has. My brother, when he’s in a manic phase, presents similar symptoms.

There was definitely shared responsibility between the two perpetrators, though Morgan was the ringleader. It will probably take a while for her to be able to admit her responsibility, though her attorneys may also have advised her to couch her statement in case of a civil lawsuit.

I notice her language is very passive: “everything that happened” and “never going to let this happen again,” instead of “what I did” or “my actions” or similar language. I take that as a sign of not taking full responsibility for her actions. Maybe she is unable to, due to her psychological issues.

Apparently her attorneys believed that would be a better option for her than an understaffed and underfunded jail...

Obviously this girl needs help, but does anyone else agree that 25 years is a bit much? Do these kinds of sentences allow for early release, or reassessments after a certain amount of time?

This happened in Waukesha, the most conservative and wealthy county in Wisconsin. I started working here right after it happened, and there was outrage from the rich bible thumpers that they aren’t being executed. They also wanted this new fangled “internet” thing destroyed before it hurt anyone else.

Of course they do. Because the public would be outraged if a child offender’s punishment was decided by a court specifically created to deal with child offenders. Because the public is an asshole.

I think it is fourteen in Oklahoma, which is doubly weird because at 16 you can be charged as a youthful offender. They seem to almost always certify them as adults though.

This entire situation is just really sad. I wish I had faith in our system but I’m sure this girl will be headed to a facility that is understaffed and underfunded.

I looked it up, apparently any kid older than TEN who is on trial for murder or attempted murder gets tried as an adult in Wisconsin. Let that shit sink in for a minute.

Her story should make it crystal clear to all the idiots who ask why so many women don’t come forward. Because this idswhathappenswhen you do.

(dis)honorable mention: Despacito by Luis Fonsi featuring Daddy Yankee and JUSTIN BEIBER. Because what Beiber did to that song was ruin it with his horrible “Spanish”. The original song is sweet perfection tho.

Businesses cheating consumers by being deceptive about their product? That’s Trump’s jam. He wants to support his people.

There is just no fucking purpose to this but sticking it to Obama, is there? It’s not like there’s no market for non-organic chicken. You just can’t charge as much for your badly-treated chickens, which presumably cost less to raise anyway.

Maybe, but I’m more convinced it was Obama.

If I recall correctly, Track was stationed out of Fort Wainwright, Alaska and never saw combat. He did that for two years and was discharged and did recruiting for the National Guard for 2 years. I’m not saying it was easy, but it sure beats being shot at. Also, if the rumors are true, he has forced into service or he

D-O-G, when interviewed, said he himself doesn’t need training, as he is so naturally awesome, but is willing to assist those poor benighted dog-things in trying to slightly increase their own capabilities.

Exactly - so we can have a new generation of struggling poors. Republicans don’t want to KILL the poor. They want to keep the poor right where they are, desperate and struggling and filled with the illusion that they’re going to strike it rich any day now if they just keep shoveling that shit. That’s where the cheap,
