I’m surprised people are surprised? I certainly don’t agree with it, but I know plenty of people who are fine with it or who at the very least don’t see a problem with it. And I live outside of Philly and work in Philly which are by and large fairly liberal areas.

Philly resident here, I don’t think of Pittsburgh as a hick area, just Western/Central PA. Also, the Philly suburbs can be a mixed bag of what I would consider to be hicks.
