The ancient machine under my desk that I use for playing with linux distros on still has the big “new computer specs” sticker on the side of the case. It brags about having 256 meg of RAM. Yes. Megabytes. A screaming 256 meg system. Woohoo.

We’ve got a couple old timey telecom guys that can do custom cables if needed. But 99 percent of the time we use bulk purchased standard lengths. And if our network team isnt bright enough to notice the reset button and cut the tab off or switch cables, we’ll fire them. :)

When I was a kid, maybe 45 years ago (really), the son of a neighbor (probably 18 or 20ish at the time, ten years older than me) used to do this same thing by melting lead. Yep. LEAD. I kinda doubt he’s still alive.
