This is really unusual. The tide was higher than normal due to last month’s “supermoon”, and the wind from the Nor’Easter blew it onshore. It’s more or less the same thing that happened during Sandy.
In my experience, it keeps the blades from sticking to the windscreen after an icy storm, that’s good enough for me. Turns a “melt the windscreen so I can pull the wipers out without breaking them” into “scrape the ice off and go”.
I like how all the wipers are in the air like the cars just gave up and surrendered to the onslaught of ice.
I used to manage a homeless shelter here in Maine, and every year we had deaths in the community from exposure/freezing to death. In most of the cases the individual was highly intoxicated, fell asleep/passed out, and just didn’t wake up.
