That's a fair point, did not realise they still cut scenes out, not a good thing. (Though it seems like more than 8 minutes of ads when I'm watching Downton on ITV.)

each episode was about 44-46 mins long, or so Wikipedia informs me. Really not much longer at all than the 43 mins or so for US network dramas.

luckily, Broadchurch was actually broadcast on ITV, a commercial station, with ads, so cutting shouldn't be necessary.

Now you've mentioned them both together, it makes so much sense. Never thought of it before, but I want Cranston and Colman together in something so bad.

Just like Forbrydelsen/The Killing - change the murderer so that you get the mystery again, but end up fucking up a half-decent story because you hew too closely to the rest of the show.

Channel 5 gets the exact credit it deserves. /British joke
