There is no such thing as a cheap luxury car. And VWs of this era have a bit of a reputation for being fragile.

Based on that color I’m starting to think someone at Bentley had an affair with my grandmother.

Dang, 100K miles... I think I’d rather spend the $40K (that is, $22.5 for the car and $17.5 for the mechanic) on a nice used Lexus LS.  Which is boring and anonymous, I know.  But real luxury is a car that starts every morning.
