I really don’t understand people who are criticizing him for airing live reads from sponsors. Self-produced podcasting is not expensive to do, but why would you ask them to cut off a possible revenue stream? Makes zero sense, if you have the audience a sponsor would demand.

It’s not being touted as “objectively bad”; it’s a different opinion about the same issue: vanilla/cheesy/”dad joke” humor You may personally find that quality endearing; others may not. I don’t know how it is “consistently negative and cynical” to state one’s dislike for that particular element.
