I get that viewpoint, although in at least my personal case I haven't seen the association often enough (or at least, weirdly, I associate it specifically with the adjective form, "problematic," that it didn't register for me when I wrote it. But I can see where the assumption would set in.

I'm kind of confused by this criticism. As I wrote (or, at least, intended) that sentence, loving Billy Joel was problematic in my attempts at socializing/being cool. (Which, at least in Indiana in 1992, it totally was). I'm aware the word problematic has certain associations, but I really don't think the way I wrote

I agree that their approaches to celebrity are very different, but I think that their demands for respect and creative control, the way they grapple with their public perceptions, and they way both of those things (and the public's reaction to them) are super strongly informed by race, supports the parallel. Suuuuuuure did!

You're right! Thanks for the catch. Fixed.

As I have with so many people in my life, I sincerely apologize for not being the person you wanted or hoped that I'd be. Alas, indeed.

That or he's dead and he's looking for some things to do there.

I don't, why do you ask?

The original draft of my entry had a long bit about how Clerks' most obvious successor wasn't Smith's later films, but Clone High - similar art styles, and a shared willingness to aggressively blow the format to pieces. But it was kind of a tangent, and the entry was already long, so I cut it. ALAS.

Sorry! Good username, though.

Thanks for pointing this out, I've corrected the article and acknowledged the mistake.

*sigh*

About once a year I'll remember that adaptation of "What's The Worst That Could Happen" with Martin Lawrence and Danny DeVito and get real, real mad.

Thought about it. But I didn't want to have to write a whole other paragraph about how amazing that would be.

Dumb mistake, but I'm not going to fix it. Just going to leave it there, so I can keep on looking dumb. Sorry.

Thanks for pointing that out. Fixed!

Sorry about that, it's been fixed.

That is the craziest cartoon I have ever watched. I sat down with an episode, it was literally about how running a restaurant is a lot harder and less fun than it looks.

Sorry, but I've taken over Saturdays from Sam. Trust me, I feel your pain.

I hate to tell you, but if you want Newswires on a Saturday, this is what you're going to get.
