Have you played Planescape: Torment? Because it's not that it has one of the best RPG stories ever: it really does have one of the best fictional stories, ever. Deep and wide-ranging and funny and written all to hell. And, despite the very tired "You have amnesia" premise, not at all standard.

Bravely Default is a weird case, because it re-uses side characters and the basic style from Final Fantasy: The Four Heroes of Light, but is explicitly not branded as a Final Fantasy game. That gets meta when you get to the MASSIVE HUGE BRAVELY DEFAULT SPOILER

Aw, c'mon, Zelos isn't so bad. He's a nice subversion of the idea that everyone in your party automatically wants what you want, just because they're hanging out with you.

Mechanically, it's my favorite Final Fantasy game. There's just so much fun to be had with the Job system.

FUCK that Persona 4 Ending.

It's worth tracking down. I know Alan Moore has become kind of a joke in recent years, but back when he was writing this stuff, "taking a silly superhero premise deadly seriously" was still kind of new, and he explores what would happen if you could be a better, stronger person by just saying a magic word in

I like it, because his sort of cheesy confidence is the perfect expression of the "What a kid thinks an awesome adult would be like" aspect of Captain Marvel.

If memory serves, that's actually LESS dark than what provokes poor Johnny Bates to unleash the genocidal nightmare of Kid Miracleman/Marvelman on the world.

I'm going off of Wikipedia sales statistics, so keep your grains of salt handy, but the PS1 seems to have outsold the N64 by a comfortable margin (also keeping in mind that the PS1 had a pretty popular re-release several years into its lifespan).

I picked up Darksiders II in some bundle or sale somewhere, and I've been very slowly working my way through that. It has most of the things I liked about the original, but the addition of half-assed RPG elements and loot does it no favors. One of the things I liked about the first game was that the exploration felt

One time I found "Drowning_with_Skeletor"…

I'm of the opinion that first Dirk Gently book is Adams' best work. It's shockingly LEAN. Just about every line is either set-up or punchline, either for a joke or a later plot twist.

…Tu el es Moleculo?

Honestly, I found the video kind of charming, if super goofy, in terms of the band's dedication to playing these dumb characters, and wrote it up from that perspective. Then I listened to the song and added the paragraph at the end, because jeez.

For a long time, joining Menudo was the equivalent of the six billion year contract members of the Sea Org have to sign.

Hm…. It's familiar.

Or maybe Mitch Hurwitz?

I always annoy people by pointing out that T.J. Jagodowski, the blonde guy in those ads, is half of iO Chicago's legendary T.J. and Dave, and one of the funniest improvisers in the universe.

Argh, I'm officially an idiot. It's fixed, now. Apologies, and awesome work on this.
